Belarus has begun supplying potash fertilizers to the United States. Aliaksandr Lukashenka said this at the Obuz-Liasnouski training ground. According to him, US buyers are being sent volumes that have become available. At the same time, he is demanding the return of money stuck in the United States.
“We are loading potash now — selling it to the United States of America. If you want potash fertilizers from us (if you want to buy them), please do. We cannot do it immediately. Here, we have some volumes that have become available. We contracted them for this year, and we will consider next year. Now there is an opportunity to load a vessel (we will definitely finish loading tomorrow) — take it.
But return what you owe us. $43–44 million of our money is stuck at Citibank — a company that cooperated with us paid the money. It is stuck in wealthy America. Please return this money to us”, he said.
It was previously reported that US President’s Special Envoy John Coale is expected to visit Minsk in the near future. Earlier this week, media reported that he planned to arrive in Belarus on September 14.
“We are open. They have lifted sanctions on a number of our enterprises and are ready to lift more. There are a lot of issues. Embassies — let’s discuss how we will resume [their work]. Nuclear materials and other things — we have a whole program there — please. If you want potash fertilizers from us, if you want to buy them — please.
I said openly that I am a Trumpist, I supported Trump. I see his mistakes. I say this directly to his best friend, who is supposed to come to us”, Lukashenka added.
