The Minsk Motor Plant (MMZ) is creating production facilities for engines with displacements ranging from 19 to 69 liters. This was reported by the government press service following a visit to the enterprise by Belarusian Prime Minister Aliaksandr Turchyn.
Construction and installation work at the assembly and testing section for these engines has been completed, as have commissioning works at the test stand. The testing complex is scheduled to be commissioned this month.
MMZ Chief Designer Mikhail Kliasso said work is underway to develop a 9.5-liter engine, a prototype of a 14-liter engine has been completed, and work is also underway on a 2.5-liter engine.
“We are working on marine and river applications, as well as expanding the use of our engines in various types of equipment”, he said.
In particular, a prototype of the six-cylinder MMZ-14D6 engine has been manufactured. Bench tests have been conducted, and the engine’s external speed characteristic has been established at 450 hp. The engine is intended for use in agricultural, construction and special-purpose equipment, as well as in diesel generator sets.
In addition, preparations for production of small-displacement diesel engines with a displacement of up to 2.5 liters are planned to be completed this year, which will allow up to 7,500 units of this product to be manufactured annually.
