Belarusian-Russian consultations on Eurasian security and the development of the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century were held in Minsk on Sept. 10.
The sides reviewed their joint work to promote the concept of the Charter in 2026 and discussed preparations for a ministerial meeting at which the negotiation process on the document is expected to be launched, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry reported. According to the ministry, the meeting will take place on Sept. 25 on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The participants in the consultations also discussed the organization of further negotiations on the Charter.
As part of the consultations, Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Ihar Sakreta met with the head of the Russian delegation, Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Alexander Trofimov.
“The Deputy Minister gave an overall positive assessment of the cooperation between Belarus and Russia in promoting the Belarusian initiative since it was put forward in 2023 and made a number of proposals for discussion during the consultations,” the press release said.
