After today’s training on the combat use of nuclear weapons and nuclear support, Aliaksandr Lukashenka spoke about the development of Belarusian missile production using the Polonez multiple launch rocket system as an example.

“We are improving our Polonez systems. Although it seems only recently that we put them into service. By now we have produced these systems ourselves and are improving the missile that we once developed together with our friends from the People’s Republic of China. Work is underway with both China and Russia.”, he said.

According to him, Belarus plans to test new missile developments in the near future. Launches will be carried out at training grounds in “friendly states” because the country does not have large testing ranges of its own.

“We do not have such training grounds, so we have to use the training grounds of our friends.”, he said.

Lukashenka also commented on weapons storage conditions, saying that Russian generals “looked with envy” at how Belarus stores ammunition and launch systems supplied from Russia.

“There were also Russian generals who looked with envy at how we store not only ammunition but also our launch systems that were delivered to us from the Russian Federation.”, the press service quoted him as saying.
