Alyaksandr Lukashenka expects that Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi may visit Belarus in the near future.
“I thank you for accepting the invitation to visit the Republic of Belarus. I look forward to meeting you soon and am confident that it will give new momentum to bilateral cooperation and to the implementation of joint projects that serve the interests of both countries,” he said in a congratulatory message addressed to the Egyptian president on the occasion of his birthday.
“Belarus follows with appreciation the efforts of your country’s authorities aimed at improving the well-being of the people and strengthening the role of the Egyptian state as one of the key centres of power in the Arab world and on the African continent,” the message also noted.
Lukashenka stated that cooperation between Belarus and Egypt is deepening in several areas, from industry and agriculture to education, science, and technology.
The President of Egypt visited Belarus in 2019. Lukashenka, in turn, visited Egypt in 2020. Since then, Alyaksandr Lukashenka has repeatedly hinted at an upcoming meeting in his official greetings, but it has not taken place.
