Aliaksandr Lukashenka has expressed dissatisfaction with vehicle recycling fees within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). He made the remarks at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

“At the dawn of the union’s creation, we spoke about jointly attracting investment to develop a component manufacturing base. But what has happened now? Everyone has closed themselves off so tightly that not even a mouse can get through. Recycling fees will soon exceed the cost of the vehicles themselves. I am talking about our union! Why are we doing this, and what kind of union can we talk about?” he said.

In recent years, Russia has repeatedly increased recycling fees. Kazakhstan subsequently followed the same path. Belarus has also raised its recycling fee rates.
