Alyaksandr Lukashenka, in his address to the Belarusian people and parliament at the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly, touched on the topic of relations with the United States. He said Minsk is conducting a constructive dialogue with Washington and described it as “talks between the strong.”

Lukashenka Explains to Assembly Delegates the Need for Cooperation With the United States

“There are three poles of power in the world: China, Russia, and the United States of America. In fact, some consider the European Union to be a fourth pillar. But given their internal discord and hysterical demands, that pole could collapse. India, with extremely high rates of economic development, is becoming a new center of attraction. Therefore, there is nothing wrong with the fact that, while having excellent strategic relations with Russia and China, we have begun to build a constructive dialogue with the leadership of the United States of America. Let me remind you, this is one of the most powerful main centers of strength,” Lukashenka said.

Lukashenka emphasized that the United States does not question Belarus’s authority and does not demand changes to the country’s economic model.

“Yes, the dialogue is sometimes tough and persistent. Yes, any details matter, but these are talks between the strong. The respect and authority of our country are not being questioned. We firmly stand by our positions. Belarus is our home. Only we determine our economic system. It has long been socially oriented. And even the Americans, major market capitalists, not once during all the negotiations demanded that I break this model or move away from it. They are not blind; they see what kind of country we have: roads, clean cities, decent cars,” Lukashenka said.

He noted that Belarus sets its objectives based on its own interests and experience and stressed that only a sovereign state can guarantee their fulfillment.

As a reminder, during the latest rounds of talks the United States lifted sanctions on Belavia and allowed operations involving Belaruskali and the Belarusian Potash Company.
