A roadmap for developing key areas of cooperation between Belarus and Indonesia for 2026–2030 was approved following talks between Aliaksandr Lukashenka and Prabowo Subianto.
The following documents were also signed following Lukashenka’s visit to Indonesia:
- Memorandum of cooperation on industrial collaboration,
- Memorandum of cooperation in the field of culture,
- Memorandum of cooperation in the field of healthcare,
- Agreement on scientific and technical cooperation,
- Memorandum of understanding between the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus and Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority,
- Memorandum of cooperation on the exchange of information related to money laundering, terrorist financing, and the financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction,
- Memorandum of understanding on accreditation between the Belarusian State Accreditation Centre and Indonesia’s accreditation body,
- Cooperation agreement between the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
During talks with the Indonesian president, Lukashenka said Belarus had ample opportunities to expand its activities in Indonesia.
“While preparing for this visit, and now being in Indonesia for the second time during my presidency, I am absolutely convinced that there is plenty of work for Belarusians in Indonesia, and we are ready to work seriously to achieve the goals you have set for your great nation and vast country,” he said.
“Yesterday, our ministers and government members from both the Indonesian and Belarusian sides met and discussed the main issues and key areas of our cooperation — Belarus in Indonesia and Indonesia in Belarus. I am absolutely convinced that we have already reached agreement on many issues. Now we need to approve these agreements and move forward without delays or bureaucracy. Only forward,” he added.
Lukashenka also welcomed Indonesia’s decision to open an embassy in Minsk.
“The potential for our cooperation is substantial. It is not simply because you are a large country while we are relatively small by comparison. We possess technologies and expertise that you need. We are ready to work with you in these areas, and there are no closed topics for us.
Like you in Indonesia, we are not afraid of anyone, because we are not doing this against anyone. We are doing it for the benefit of our countries and peoples. We welcome the Indonesian side’s decision to open an embassy in Minsk. I am confident that this diplomatic mission will work hand in hand with the Belarusian embassy in Jakarta and help increase the intensity of contacts between our countries. We will provide every possible support to the person you appoint as your ambassador to Belarus,” he said.
Lukashenka also suggested that Indonesia use Belarus as a base for operations in Europe.
“I would like to emphasize that Belarus is a central state in Europe. The geographical center of Europe is located in Belarus. As you know, between the English Channel and the Ural Mountains, Belarus is the center. You can always count on us.
You can operate in Europe from Belarusian territory, and we will provide you with every possible support. We are your friends, and we will do everything necessary to ensure that you never regret choosing to work with us,” he said.
Lukashenka also said that Minsk and Jakarta share the same principles of cooperation.
“The main principles of our cooperation are mutual respect and readiness to support each other, including on the international stage. Despite the geographical distance, Belarusians and Indonesians have much in common.
You have successfully put into practice your national motto, ‘Unity in Diversity,’ which is inscribed on your state emblem. That is also the essence of our policy. The strength of your people lies in that unity. For Belarusians, an important historical guiding principle has become the slogan, ‘Together for a Strong and Prosperous Belarus!’ — which echoes your own motto,” he said.
