Lithuanian trucks have begun departing from parking areas in Belarus toward Lithuania through the Kamenny Loh–Medininkai and Benyakoni–Šalčininkai border crossings, according to the Infotrans Media Belarus Telegram channel.

“There are no obstacles on the Belarusian side to the movement of Lithuanian trucks. They can proceed toward Lithuania through two checkpoints: Kamenny Loh–Medininkai and Benyakoni–Šalčininkai. Kamenny Loh–Medininkai is packed to capacity with Lithuanian trucks. The throughput capacity for trucks on the Lithuanian side at Medininkai has not increased. All trucks heading from Belarus to Lithuania are being sent for X-ray screening,” the Association of Intermodal Transport and Logistics (AITL) stated.

According to the outlet, there is also a heavy flow of trucks in the opposite direction, from Lithuania into Belarus. Traffic at the Medininkai checkpoint is described as “very heavy,” although only one inspection window is operating on the Lithuanian side, the report says.

Lithuania temporarily closed its border with Belarus in late October due to the threat posed by meteorological balloons. In response, Minsk banned Lithuanian trucks from traveling through its territory until the checkpoints reopened. Although Lithuania resumed border operations on Thursday, stranded carriers were still unable to return at least until yesterday.
