Lithuania’s parliament on Tuesday agreed to consider a bill that would ban entry into the country for representatives of the culture and entertainment industries working in Russia and Belarus. A total of 84 lawmakers voted in favor of considering the bill, five abstained, and there were no votes against.

This is the second attempt to advance the bill in the Lithuanian parliament. It was initiated by conservatives. In April, the proposal failed to secure support at the presentation stage and was sent back for revision. The new version has undergone virtually no changes, LRT noted.

The bill provides for a ban of up to five years on entry to Lithuania for foreign nationals who actively support or participate in the activities of another state that violate the principles and norms of international law, as well as for those who, after February 24, 2022, have engaged in cultural, concert, entertainment or related activities in Russia, Belarus or occupied territories.
