Lithuanian border guards have intercepted two drones carrying contraband cigarettes from Belarus in recent days.

In both cases, counter-drone measures were used to intercept the drones.

One of the drones was forced to land in the Šalčininkai district. It was carrying 200 packs of NZ Gold cigarettes. The second drone was spotted in the same district three hours later and was also forced to land in a field. This drone was carrying 1,000 packs of NZ Gold cigarettes.

The contraband was seized. Administrative proceedings are under way.

Since the beginning of the year, Lithuania’s State Border Guard Service has intercepted 15 smuggling drones.
