Lithuanian border guards brought down a drone carrying contraband cigarettes from Belarus. The incident took place in Varėna District near the settlement of Dubas.
Patrol officers heard a characteristic sound in the dark, then detected the drone using a thermal imaging camera and employed counter-drone equipment. The drone crashed.
The drone was carrying 1,000 packs of NZ Gold cigarettes with Belarusian excise stamps.
Since the beginning of the year, the Lithuanian Border Guard Service has intercepted 11 drones carrying contraband.
