The Belarusian government’s press service published a short video featuring comments from representatives of Lithuanian and Polish carriers who met today with Prime Minister Alyaksandr Turchyn. He assured them that the Belarusian side does not seek to confiscate trucks with Lithuanian registration that have remained in Belarus since last autumn.
“First of all, we would like to thank you for the opportunity to come here and for the time devoted to us.
We are full of hope that all our problems will be resolved positively, that our vehicles will be able to return to Poland, and that we will continue to carry out mutual transport operations in the best possible way, because we are neighbors and our relations should be positive. With these hopes, we came to Belarus.
The prime minister created a very friendly atmosphere for the discussion. He allowed us to speak, to explain our problems. He listened, and we hope — with understanding. We hope for a resolution… We are not politicians, we are business owners, and we expect a practical decision. That is why we addressed those responsible for economic matters,” a representative of the delegation said.
Lithuanian carriers also said they had sent a letter to Alyaksandr Lukashenka, signed by 72 companies.
“We are glad that we were invited and heard. We hope for the best possible outcome for all sides,” one of the delegation members said.
