Lithuania has noted an improvement in the situation with smugglers’ weather balloons. This was stated by the country’s presidential adviser on national security Deividas Matulionis, BNS reported.
“For now, we cannot say with 100% certainty that this is a sustainable process and that there will be no more balloons at the airport. Let us wait a little longer, but the situation has improved significantly,” he said.
Matulionis believes this may be due to several factors, ranging from more active efforts by Lithuanian law enforcement agencies to curb smuggling to weather conditions and the talks that took place in Minsk between U.S. Special Envoy John Coale and Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
