The Lithuanian side has halted operations at checkpoints along the border with Belarus, according to eyewitness reports shared in specialized Telegram chats dedicated to border updates.
In the chat for the Kamenny Log (Belarus) / Medininkai (Lithuania) checkpoint, users reported that Lithuania blocked entry from Belarus and set up barriers.
“LT-BY, 5:55, queue from the memorial,” one user wrote at 5:55 a.m.
No one is being allowed to cross from Lithuania into Belarus either.
“The LT-BY border has also been closed since 3 a.m., including for buses and people with disabilities,” another eyewitness said.
In the chat for Benyakoni (Belarus) / Šalčininkai (Lithuania), users also reported that the crossing was blocked.
“Yes, I called. They’re not operating and not commenting,” one chat participant wrote at 4:30 a.m.
Earlier this night, more than 20 flights were canceled or redirected at Vilnius Airport due to meteorological balloons.
