Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will visit Minsk on a working visit on June 14-15. The announcement was made during a briefing on June 4 by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
Lavrov is scheduled to meet with Aliaksandr Lukashenka and Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhankou.
“During the meetings, a broad range of current issues related to bilateral cooperation and the international agenda will be discussed. Particular attention will be paid to diplomatic support for processes within the Union State framework and to raising the international profile of this association. A schedule of key joint events and bilateral contacts will be outlined,” Zakharova said.
According to her, Ryzhankou and Lavrov will discuss contacts between the two foreign ministries, including preparations for a joint meeting of the ministries’ collegiums, which is due to take place in Belarus in the fourth quarter.
“A traditional exchange of views is expected on foreign policy coordination within the framework of Eurasian integration initiatives, various international organizations, as well as in relations with third countries. The implementation of joint initiatives will be reviewed, including efforts to counter sanctions and legal aggression by the collective West, the formation of a new architecture of equal and indivisible security in Eurasia, and the development of the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st century,” Zakharova said.
