Deputy Head of the United Transitional Cabinet and Head of the National Anti-Crisis Management Pavel Latushka thanked Lithuania for initiating an International Criminal Court investigation into Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
He met with Lithuanian Interior Minister Vladislav Kondratovič during the 50th session of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe. As the United Transitional Cabinet reported, Latushka “expressed gratitude for Lithuania’s principled position on holding representatives of the Lukashenka regime accountable for crimes against humanity and against the Belarusian people”.
He stressed that he raises the importance of this work at all of his meetings and highlights Lithuania’s leadership, while also calling on other countries to join the investigation.
“During his stay in Strasbourg, Pavel Latushka is holding consultations with heads of diplomatic missions and the Secretariat of the Council of Europe on issues of holding Lukashenka accountable for crimes against the Belarusian people, aggression against Ukraine and war crimes related to the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children from temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine to Belarus and their subsequent ideological indoctrination in the spirit of the ‘Russian world'”, the Cabinet added.
