Deputy Head of the United Transitional Cabinet and head of the National Anti-Crisis Management Paval Latushka has appealed to the Polish authorities to take into account the situation of Belarusians under international protection when drafting new regulations for taxi drivers.
The new rules require drivers to provide a criminal record certificate from their country of origin. As the United Transitional Cabinet noted, this may be impossible and dangerous for Belarusians with international protection status, as contacts with the Belarusian authorities could jeopardize both their status and security. Latushka proposed allowing such individuals to use a Polish criminal record certificate instead of a Belarusian one.
The appeal also raised the issue of re-registering vehicles with Belarusian license plates. Due to restrictions introduced by the Belarusian authorities, many people are unable to sell their vehicles or deregister them in Belarus. Latushka proposed considering a preferential mechanism for re-registering such vehicles in Poland for persons under international protection.
