The Investigative Committee has revealed details of the kidnapping of a young woman in the Slutsk District on December 25.

On the evening of December 25, an 18-year-old resident of the agrotown of Luchniki was walking to visit a friend in the village of Branovichi. On Centralnaya Street, her path was blocked by an Opel car with an unknown man behind the wheel. The driver offered the girl a ride. When she refused, he got out, forced her into the front seat, locked the doors and held her inside despite her resistance and attempts to get out. He then drove around with the captive girl through Slutsk and the Slutsk District.

He continued moving with the kidnapped girl around the territory of the Slutsk District and the city of Slutsk. The girl managed to call an acquaintance and later contacted the police, reporting her approximate location. When the driver realized he was being pursued, he drove to an abandoned building. After seeing a police car, the girl managed to open the door and get out of the vehicle. The driver tried to flee but was detained.

The driver turned out to be a 32-year-old resident of the village of Branovichi. At the time of the crime he was under the influence of drugs. He had previously been held criminally liable for theft and for driving under the influence.

A criminal case on charges of kidnapping has been opened against the man. The case materials have been sent to the prosecutor’s office for referral to court.
