Lithuanian trucks entering Belarus from the Russian side are also being sent to designated sites. A total of 230 such trucks have been detained, the press service of the State Customs Committee of Belarus said on Saturday.
“The delivery of Lithuanian vehicles entering from the Russian side to designated locations also continues. These trucks are placed in different regions of the country at temporary storage warehouses of departmental customs posts and remain under customs control. A total of 230 trucks have already been placed at these locations,” the press service said.
The Committee said all vehicles that had been waiting to exit into Lithuania on the roadsides near the Kamenny Loh and Benyakoni checkpoints have been placed at designated sites. In total, 1,370 trucks are now at five guarded paid parking areas.
“For those drivers who have not returned home, the necessary conditions have been created here (shops, hot meals, sanitary rooms, showers, laundry facilities),” the Committee said.
Lithuania closed its border with Belarus to road transport until 30 November due to the launch of meteorological probes carrying contraband from Belarusian territory, which had caused Lithuanian airports to halt operations. In response, the authorities in Minsk banned trucks with Lithuanian plates from leaving Belarus.
