Russia’s Investigative Committee has brought charges against the organizer of an ice floating event on the Tuloma River, during which a Belarusian citizen born in 1968 went missing.
According to the Investigative Committee, the individual entrepreneur has been charged under Point “v”, Part 2, Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements for the life and health of consumers, resulting in a person’s death by negligence”).
“As part of the investigation of the criminal case, specialized hydrothermal suits were seized from the suspect. An inspection established that they do not meet safety requirements, have expired service lives, and lack the required annual certification,” the statement said.
Search operations for the missing woman are continuing. On January 1, she was carried away by the current in an unknown direction. Her whereabouts have not yet been established.
A non-custodial preventive measure has been imposed on the accused. Investigative actions aimed at collecting and securing evidence are ongoing.
