It has become known that the 17th International Historical Reenactment Festival “Our Grunwald 2026,” which had been scheduled to take place at the end of July, has been cancelled.
The festival’s organisers announced the decision in their official social media accounts.
“This announcement is very difficult for us to make. It is with great regret that we inform you that despite the enormous amount of preparation, months of work and all our efforts, the 17th Historical Reenactment Festival ‘Our Grunwald 2026’ will not take place at the end of July in Dudutki, as it has for the past 16 consecutive years. Circumstances have developed in such a way that we are unable to hold the festival on the planned dates.”
The organisers said they are now looking into the possibility of rescheduling the event to another month. If that proves impossible, the team will begin preparations for next year instead. The public statement does not provide detailed reasons for the cancellation.
“The Main Event of the Summer”
News of the cancellation sparked a wave of disappointment among the festival’s supporters. In comments under the official announcement, users noted that this was not the first such announcement this season and referred to other events that have also been cancelled.
“It was expected after the cancellation of Holy Sun and Solstice” (festivals cancelled this year — Reform.news note). “Still, it’s very sad,” “What a pity. For so many years, the Our Grunwald festival has been the main event of the summer. Let’s hope it will be rescheduled!”, “I hope everything works out for you! Our whole family looks forward to the festival every year. Thank you for everything you do,” “Such a shame. It’s the best festival in Belarus.”
Some supporters even suggested launching a public campaign in support of the festival: “Where should we all appeal to support the festival? Maybe support from fans will help?” However, most simply wished the organisers strength and expressed hope of meeting again in the future.

The “Our Grunwald” festival has traditionally been dedicated to the anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald (July 15, 1410) and has been one of Belarus’ most popular cultural and historical events. For many years, it brought together hundreds of historical reenactors from different countries at the Dudutki museum complex, along with thousands of spectators, featuring large-scale knight tournaments, group combat reenactments, craft fairs and major concerts by folk and rock performers.
