Several Ukrainian electrical substations vital to nuclear safety were damaged this morning as a result of large-scale military activity, said IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.

“The Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant has completely lost its external power supply, and power transmission lines leading to other nuclear power plants were also affected,” the International Atomic Energy Agency said in a statement.

“The IAEA is actively monitoring developments to assess the consequences for nuclear safety,” Grossi added.
