The Viasna Human Rights Centre has learned of more than 10 searches carried out yesterday targeting activists who had left Belarus.
According to Viasna, at least some of them were linked to participation in Freedom Day events in Warsaw and Vilnius.
This year, ahead of the holiday, the Investigative Committee issued threats against Belarusians living abroad.
“Those involved will be identified, their actions qualified in accordance with the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, and they will be held accountable, if necessary through the mechanism of special proceedings and confiscation of property on the territory of our country.”, the Investigative Committee’s statement said.
