Minsk National Airport is operating this morning, but many flights have departed with delays, according to the airport’s electronic departure board.

Belavia flights to Moscow, St. Petersburg and Istanbul were delayed. A flight to Dubai is expected to depart nine hours late, at 12:05.

Arriving flights from Baku and Batumi were also delayed. A Belavia flight from Moscow is running about 1.5 hours late and is now expected to arrive at 12:45.

As reported earlier, a cyclone hit Belarus on Thursday, bringing heavy snowfall, blizzards and strong winds. Over the past 24 hours, severe weather disrupted power supply in 251 населённых пунктах. Public transport in Minsk has been operating with disruptions since the morning. A “Weather” emergency plan was introduced across most of the country yesterday, and Belarusian Railways warned of train delays. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported rescuing more than 100 vehicles stuck in snowdrifts, while the Interior Ministry announced it would deploy heavy equipment, including armored personnel carriers, to assist on the roads.

Today, the national weather danger level was downgraded from red to orange. However, heavy snow and blizzard conditions persist across most of the country, with snowdrifts on roads and wind gusts reaching 15–20 m/s.
