A farmer in Kastsyukovichy District accidentally wounded his son while attempting to slaughter a pig with a firearm. Prosecutors have opened a criminal case on charges of causing grievous bodily harm through negligence.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the 61-year-old man “was slaughtering a domestic pig on the premises of a peasant (farm) enterprise using an unregistered firearm.” He accidentally discharged the weapon in the direction of his 15-year-old son, who was nearby.
The teenager suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was hospitalised. He remains in hospital.
“As the teenager, due to his age, is unable to independently protect his rights, and the committed crime has significantly affected the interests of the state and society, the prosecutor initiated a criminal case of private-public prosecution without a corresponding statement from the victim,” the prosecutor’s office said.
