Belarusian agricultural enterprises are short of 2,400 workers for the spring sowing campaign. However, farms will be fully staffed, Stanislau Karpovich, head of the Main Directorate for Technical Progress and Energy, State Supervision of the Technical Condition of Machinery and Equipment at the Agriculture and Food Ministry, said at a press conference at the National Press Center.
“Today, to ensure the continuity of the technological process, it is necessary to additionally привлечь 2,400 people in order to fully load machinery, including high-power tractors, in two shifts. Therefore, 1,000 people will be brought in from industrial enterprises, 660 will be trainees and students from vocational schools, higher education institutions and other organizations, and more than 1,000 people will be engaged under civil contracts. In practice, all the people have already been identified — the names are known for each type of equipment,” he said.
According to him, more than 9,000 units of machinery were purchased for agricultural enterprises last year. Karpovich said the readiness of equipment currently stands at 94%. In total, about 75,000 units of machinery will be involved in the sowing campaign.
