The European Aquatics federation has requested a delay in allowing Belarusian and Russian athletes to compete under their national symbols until September.
“The request asks that this regulation, which allows the return of these athletes to full participation in all aquatic disciplines, not come into force within European Aquatics until September 1, 2026”, the federation’s press service reported.
Until September 1, Belarusian and Russian athletes may compete in European Aquatics events as individual neutral athletes.
On April 13, the World Aquatics federation restored full membership rights to Belarus and Russia and allowed Belarusian and Russian athletes to compete under their national flags.
