Permanent representatives of EU member states to the European Council will consider new sanctions on Wednesday, 3 December. The item has been included on the meeting agenda.
The agenda provides for a discussion of proposals by the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy on restrictive measures related to actions undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of Ukraine.
The measures likely concern additional steps targeting Russia’s so-called shadow fleet. Earlier, Kaja Kallas stated that such measures could be adopted before the end of the year, ahead of the 20th sanctions package, the discussion of which is expected only in January.
