On February 24, a meeting with the management of TVEL, the fuel company of Rosatom, was held at the Ministry of Energy of Belarus.
The meeting was attended by Energy Minister Dzianis Maroz, Deputy Energy Minister Viktar Karankevich, heads and specialists of the Energy Ministry, representatives of the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, organisations of the energy sector, and enterprises. The Russian delegation was led by President of TVEL Natalia Nikipelova.
Belarus is cooperating with TVEL in several areas, including the supply of nuclear fuel for the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, a project to build a radioactive waste disposal facility, the development of energy storage systems, additive technologies, and electromobility, the Energy Ministry reported.
The parties discussed the implementation of pilot projects to install energy storage systems at the Mazyr Thermal Power Plant and at industrial enterprises, including MAZ, BelAZ, and Belkommunmash.
The operation of the Additive Technologies Centre was also discussed. The joint centre operates in Minsk and is focused on introducing 3D printing in industry and the energy sector to manufacture components for enterprises, reduce production and equipment repair times, and decrease dependence on imported supplies.
The parties also discussed the development of a component base for electric vehicles and the creation of a radioactive waste disposal facility in Belarus.
