The Ministry of Energy has held a meeting of its emergency situations commission ahead of the expected cold snap.
According to the ministry’s press service, sector enterprises are being switched to a heightened operating mode, emergency crews have been placed on constant standby, and mobile diesel power stations have also been prepared.
“Particular attention has been paid to the operation of heating networks. Their operating modes are being adjusted with regard to outdoor air temperatures. In order to avoid sharp temperature fluctuations, smooth and proactive regulation of heat supply is being ensured in populated areas where a cold snap is expected,” the statement said.
As a reminder, in the coming days nighttime temperatures in Belarus will drop below minus 25 degrees Celsius. In some areas, temperatures will reach minus 31°C.
