The Ministry of Energy has set the task of preparing a framework agreement on the construction of a third unit of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant this year. This was stated on Belarusian television by Energy Minister Dzianis Maroz.

“In order to begin implementing this project, we need to prepare a package of documents. We are starting work on a certain framework agreement with the state corporation Rosatom, which will stipulate the technical and economic conditions for the implementation of this project. To draft this framework agreement, a working group has been formed at the level of the Ministry of Energy and the Rosatom state corporation. This working group has already held several meetings, and detailed discussions are underway,” he said.

According to him, the first short-term task is to prepare the agreement, which is to be completed this year. Plans for 2026 also include preparing for the signing of a contract and concluding an intergovernmental agreement.

“The short-term task is to prepare the framework agreement, as well as to prepare and submit to the government a detailed action plan that will include the entire program of actions of all state administration bodies for the construction in Belarus of a nuclear facility in the form of a third unit at the Belarusian NPP,” he added.
