The exemption from the transport tax for electric vehicles will be extended through 2026, according to Natalya Kuleshova, a member of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives on Budget and Finance.

She said the exemption would be extended for the coming year.
“After that, we will see whether it will be necessary to extend it further,” the deputy said, as reported by BelTA.

Under the current version of the Tax Code, vehicles of categories “M1 or M1G* powered exclusively by an electric motor” are not subject to the transport tax until December 31, 2025. In the draft amendments to the Tax Code recently published in the legislative database of the National Legal Internet Portal, no changes were proposed to this paragraph of Article 307-2. Thus, the published draft did not initially provide for an extension of the tax benefit for electric vehicle owners.

However, according to Kuleshova’s statement, corresponding adjustments to the draft will be introduced during the review process in the House of Representatives.
