Eight countries have joined the European Union’s latest sanctions decisions against Belarus.

In December, the EU introduced new sanctions criteria. They apply to Belarus and allow restrictive measures to be imposed on those who plan, direct, support, or facilitate foreign information manipulation and interference. The new criteria also cover actions aimed at interfering with, damaging, or destroying critical infrastructure, as well as large-scale or systematic actions leading to the disruption of such infrastructure.

According to the press service of the EU Council, the decision was joined by Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, and Ukraine.
