Pavel Latushka, deputy head of the United Transitional Cabinet and head of the National Anti-Crisis Management, met with the Danish Ambassador to Poland Jakob Henningsen. The spokesperson of the Coordination Council, Artsyom Brukhan, also took part in the meeting.

“I am grateful to Denmark for maintaining a firm position: real change in Belarus is possible only through strong and consistent international pressure on the Lukashenka regime,” Latushka said.

Latushka informed the ambassador of Denmark, which currently holds the presidency of the EU, about the UTC’s position on potential deals with Lukashenka. The UTC maintains that no “deals” with Lukashenka should be made until political changes in the interests of Belarusian society are carried out in Belarus, the UTC reported.

The deputy head of the UTC also briefed the ambassador on the ongoing repressions in Belarus, political prisoners, and the persecution of civil society and democratic actors. Latushka provided information about the harassment of Belarusians abroad by the Lukashenka regime.

He also described ongoing efforts to hold Lukashenka and his associates accountable for international crimes.

The discussion also covered Denmark’s support for the initiatives of Belarusian democratic forces within the OSCE.

The Danish ambassador thanked the delegation for the information provided and confirmed Denmark’s continued principled support for Belarusian democratic institutions and the Belarusian democratic community.
