Economic crime investigators in the Mahilyow Region have uncovered a corruption scheme at a housing and utilities enterprise in the regional center.
According to the investigation, a 53-year-old head of a department at one of the municipal utility enterprises received cash payments from the director of a commercial company in exchange for selecting his firm to supply workwear, tools and consumable materials.
During the investigation, two additional cases of bribes being transferred to managers of state organizations in Mahilyow were identified. The payments were allegedly made in return for lobbying the interests of the same businessman. The total amount of illegal remuneration exceeded 20,000 rubles.
Criminal cases have been opened on all counts, the Interior Ministry’s press service said.
