Lithuanian border guards have discovered 50,000 packs of Belarusian cigarettes in a forest near the village of Kuodžiai in the Lazdijai District, close to the border with Belarus.
Bundles with loops attached to them were scattered within a radius of 20 meters. Border guards set up an ambush, but no one came to collect the cigarettes over several hours. The bundles were then taken to a border post. Each package contained two boxes bearing the logo of the Neman factory, the Lithuanian Border Guard Service reported.
A total of 50,000 cigarettes of the Minsk 5 Superslims and Queen Menthol brands were seized. Their value is estimated at €259,500. A pre-trial investigation has been launched.
