China to Allocate $2 Million for Medical Aid in Chernobyl-Affected Areas

The Chinese government will finance a technical assistance project for Belarus.

Belarusian Prime Minister Alyaksandr Turchyn has signed a government resolution approving the international technical assistance project titled “Improving the Quality and Accessibility of Medical Care for the Population Living in Areas Affected by the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Disaster.”

The project will be funded by the Chinese government in the amount of $2 million. Administrative management of the project will be carried out by the United Nations Development Programme in Belarus.

“The project предусматривает the supply of medical equipment and supplies for an inter-district center of specialized and high-tech medical care established on the basis of the Mazyr Central City Polyclinic, as well as activities aimed at raising public awareness on health promotion,” the government’s press service reported.
