Car Destroys Historic Chapel in Smarhon District

A historic architectural monument was destroyed in a traffic accident in the Smarhon District.

In the afternoon of October 17, a 25-year-old driver of an Audi lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a chapel in the village of Rasla.

The car overturned, and the chapel was completely destroyed. The driver was not injured in the accident, according to the Grodno Regional Executive Committee’s Department of Internal Affairs.

The destroyed chapel held the status of a cultural and historical heritage site and was listed among architectural monuments under the category “Catholic Chapels of the 19th – First Half of the 20th Century.”
