Artsiom Liabedzka, the son of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s representative on constitutional reform and interparliamentary cooperation, Anatol Liabedzka, has been placed in a punishment cell, Belsat reports. According to the outlet, he was among political prisoners sent to the SHIZO at Ivatsevichy Penal Colony No. 22, known as “Wolf Holes.”

Earlier today, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported that after a brief thaw, pressure on political prisoners has resumed at Ivatsevichy Penal Colony No. 22. Prisoners have begun to receive violations on contrived grounds, are being assigned the status of “persistent violators,” and are being sent to punishment cells.

As a reminder, Artsiom Liabedzka was detained in March 2023 under an administrative charge. Criminal proceedings were later initiated against him under an article on financing extremist activity. In August 2023, he was sentenced to 3.5 years in a penal colony. Liabedzka was found guilty under the article on financing the activities of an extremist formation (Article 361-2 of the Criminal Code). According to the case materials, in 2020 Artsiom, “motivated by ideological hostility,” made transfers to three funds recognized as “extremist formations.” The funds were transferred through Facebook’s payment system. Liabedzka did not plead guilty.
