The Belarusian-language Wikipedia has warned editors about a security issue: the project no longer has oversighters — users who could hide or remove edits from the history of articles on sensitive topics. The human rights center “Viasna” drew attention to this.
As a result, information about authors and the content of edits may now remain publicly visible. Contributors located in Belarus are advised to avoid editing political and other high-risk articles from their regular accounts, even under pseudonyms. As an alternative, they are encouraged to use temporary accounts or incognito mode.
The community is currently discussing and voting on a temporary solution that would partially restore the edit-hiding function.
