A Belarusian returning home from Poland attempted to swallow a package of marijuana at the border.
The 46-year-old man was crossing the border in a passenger car through the Kamenny Log border crossing point. At the border he declared that he had no prohibited items, but customs officers drew attention to the behavior of a service dog.
“The customs service dog did not confirm the citizen’s words, indicating by its behavior the clear presence of a prohibited substance in his luggage,” the State Customs Committee reported.
The man took a package out of his backpack and tried to swallow it. He was stopped by customs officers. An examination showed that the package contained marijuana.
A criminal case has been opened against the man for moving narcotic substances across the border under Part 1 of Article 328-1 of the Criminal Code. He has been taken into custody.
