A Belarusian short-range reconnaissance radar station, the Klen, produced by OAO Alevkurp, was tested on the territory of a potential foreign customer, the State Authority for Military Industry said.

“During the event, the combat capabilities of the station and the compliance of its tactical and technical characteristics with the declared specifications were demonstrated in practice. At the same time, the Klen’s functionality during the presentation was not limited to reconnaissance of moving targets,” the statement said.

The ability to integrate the radar with fire-support assets and to mount the station on the customer’s equipment was also demonstrated. The Klen can detect ground and low-altitude aerial targets at a range of up to 5 kilometres.

The specific potential customer was not disclosed. However, photographs published by the State Authority for Military Industry show the radar against a desert landscape.

It should be noted that in addition to producing radar stations, Alevkurp also upgrades Soviet-era surface-to-air missile systems. It has been reported that the enterprise upgraded the S-125 and Osa systems for Cuba.
