The Brest Regional Court sentenced D. Tsyhankou to four years in a penal colony. He was charged under articles related to insulting Lukashenka, inciting national, religious, and other social hatred against citizens of a foreign state and representatives of another faith, as well as deliberate actions aimed at the rehabilitation of Nazism.
“The deliberate actions related to the rehabilitation of Nazism consisted of posting comments in publicly accessible Telegram communities that contained a positive assessment of Nazi criminals, including members of the SS division ‘Galicia,’ the Belarusian anti-Soviet partisan organization ‘Black Cat,’ as well as Oskar Dirlewanger’s SS unit, including their role in the burning of Khatyn and other villages in the BSSR, accompanied by mass killings of civilians,” the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.
Tsyhankou appealed the verdict of the court of first instance, but it was upheld. The sentence has entered into force.
