Belarusian sappers are participating in mine-clearance operations in Russia’s Kursk Region, according to the region’s governor, Alexander Khinshtein.
“This year, specialists from fraternal Belarus are also taking part in mine clearance, including personnel from their mine action center,” he told RIA Novosti at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
“To date, more than 168,000 hectares of territory have been cleared, along with more than 880 kilometers of roads and over 18,000 buildings and structures. Nearly 3 million explosive objects have been destroyed. In total, 92 settlements have been cleared,” the governor added.
