A train dispatcher of Belarusian Railways is accused of receiving more than €2,800 in bribes for arranging freight train stops during which unauthorized goods were loaded into railcars.
According to case materials, since May 2023 the accused had managed train traffic in his assigned dispatch section, planned and organized train movements, provided stations with information on train operations and ensured control over receiving, forming and dispatching trains.
“Knowing the train schedule and formation plan, during a personal meeting with a previously unknown 33-year-old man he agreed to receive money as a bribe for arranging the necessary stops at one of the railway stations in the Minsk District,” the Minsk Region Prosecutor’s Office reported.
From February 27 to November 5, 2025, the dispatcher received more than €2,800 in bribes for the “favorable resolution of issues,” including providing information about train stops and departures at a specific station. During the stops, unauthorized goods were loaded into containers.
During the preliminary investigation, the accused voluntarily reimbursed the income obtained through criminal means. He is being held in custody.
Earlier, the Community of Railway Workers of Belarus reported on one of the schemes for smuggling Belarusian cigarettes into the European Union. The cigarettes were thrown into containers traveling from China to the EU.
It was also reported that train dispatcher Andrei Hauryliuk was detained in early November 2025. According to the Community of Railway Workers of Belarus, he was accused of taking bribes in connection with a smuggling scheme and of treason.
