Belarus could multiply container transport volumes from China to Europe. A working meeting between Belarusian Railways and delegations from the Chinese companies Sinotrans Co., Ltd. and China Merchants CHN-BLR Commercial and Logistics Company CJSC was held in Brest.
The Belarusian railway delegation was led by Head of the Belarusian Railways state association Valery Viarenich. Sinotrans Co., Ltd. was represented by Chairman of the Board Zhang Yi, while China Merchants CHN-BLR Commercial and Logistics Company CJSC was represented by General Director Xie Yi.
“A visit to the Brest-Severny container terminal was organised for the Chinese partners, during which a detailed presentation was made of the technical and operational capabilities of both the terminal itself and the Brest railway hub as a whole.
Head of the Belarusian Railways state association Valery Viarenich emphasised that the Belarusian railway system has sufficient reserves to multiply transport volumes from China to Europe via the Republic of Belarus, including the possibility of using all Belarusian-Polish border railway crossings.”, the statement said.
The sides discussed current issues of cooperation, increasing freight transport volumes and the use of the container railway terminal being built in the Great Stone industrial park.
A Memorandum on Strategic Partnership was signed in Brest between the state enterprise BELINTERTRANS and China Merchants CHN-BLR Commercial and Logistics Company CJSC.
