Belarusian MAZ-5316 chassis with a 4×4 wheel configuration were spotted in Indonesia. Videos of the vehicles were published on Aug. 21 by local transport outlets Rasika USA and DUNIA Transportasi.

According to Rasika USA, the trucks were spotted on Aug. 21 on the Pantura highway in the Demak area. The outlet reports that the vehicles were imported from Belarus by Indonesia’s Defense Ministry and were heading to Kudus for the installation of bodies and government registration plates.

“After Kudus, the trucks will return to PT. Pindad [Indonesia’s state-owned defense industry company] for the installation of military equipment and distribution across Indonesia. It is reported that the Defense Ministry imported a total of about 1,500 trucks”, the video’s caption said.

In mid-May, an Indonesian delegation visited the Minsk Automobile Plant. The sides discussed opportunities for cooperation and MAZ vehicle supplies. At the end of June, MAZ Director General Valery Ivankovich said the company had good prospects for entering the Indonesian market. According to him, the sides already had preliminary agreements and potential partners.

During Aliaksandr Lukashenka’s visit to Indonesia in early July, Chairman of the State Military-Industrial Committee Dzmitry Pantus was part of the accompanying Belarusian delegation. The agency reported that the sides discussed military-technical cooperation, joint projects and industrial cooperation.
