Belarusian Man Detained In Poland With Drugs

Police in the Polish city of Lipsk have detained a 46-year-old Belarusian citizen who was found to be carrying narcotic substances.

On Monday, March 2, police officers were checking the legality of foreigners’ stay in Poland. During the inspection, prohibited substances were discovered on the Belarusian man. He was detained.

The following day the detainee was charged with possession of narcotic substances. The man admitted his guilt. Under Polish law, the offence carries a possible penalty of up to three years in prison, the Lipsk police said.

In connection with the incident, police officers sent a request to the territorial unit of the Border Guard seeking the deportation of the Belarusian man from Poland. Further proceedings in the case will be carried out by the Border Guard in accordance with the applicable legislation.
