The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus has issued a statement on the situation in Venezuela. The statement categorically condemns armed aggression but does not specify who carried it out.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus categorically condemns the armed aggression committed on January 3, 2026, against the sovereign state of Venezuela and considers it a direct threat to international peace and security,” the statement said.
Minsk declared its “unwavering support for the legitimate government of Venezuela” and joined the call for the urgent convening of the UN Security Council, “which bears primary responsibility for the maintenance of peace.”
It was reported that Belarus’s diplomatic mission in Caracas is operating as usual and that its personnel are safe. Work is under way to monitor the situation involving Belarusian citizens, and no information about emergencies involving them has been received.
“The Republic of Belarus emphasizes that the right of the Venezuelan people to independently determine their own destiny is inviolable. No forms of external interference, especially the use of force, can be justified,” the Belarusian Foreign Ministry concluded.
Earlier today, the United States carried out a large-scale operation against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolás Maduro. U.S. President Donald Trump said that Maduro and his wife “were captured and taken out of the country.”
